You’ve tried journaling. You stared at the blank page. You wrote three sentences, decided they were terrible, and never went back. Sound familiar? This workshop is for you. We’ll throw out everything you think journaling is supposed to look like and find an approach that actually works for your brain, your schedule, and your life. No prompts you have to take seriously. No pressure to be profound. Just you, a pen and paper or a laptop, and a surprisingly good time.

Once a year, it’s worth slowing down and asking: what actually happened this year? What did I learn? What do I want to carry forward, and what am I ready to leave behind? This annual December workshop guides you through a structured journaling process to close out the year with intention and clarity. It has become a tradition for many participants — a quiet, reflective space before the new year begins.

Journaling for Grief A 2-hour workshop via Zoom

These workshops are not recorded, in order to maintain privacy and confidentiality for all participants. Slides will be shared with participants after the workshop.

Grief doesn’t follow a schedule, and it doesn’t always have words. This workshop offers a gentle, supported space to use journaling as a companion through loss — whether you’re in the early rawness of grief or carrying something you’ve held for years. We’ll explore approaches to writing that don’t require you to have it figured out, that make room for anger and love and confusion all at once, and that help you stay in relationship with what — and who — you’ve lost.

Pricing: Pay-what-you-can: $75 (sustaining) / $60 (standard) / $45 (reduced) / Free for MSU Denver email holders

Journaling Through Chronic Illness and Disability A 2-hour workshop via Zoom

These workshops are not recorded, in order to maintain privacy and confidentiality for all participants. Slides will be shared with participants after the workshop.

Living with chronic illness or disability means navigating a body that doesn’t always cooperate, a healthcare system that can feel dehumanizing, and a life that may look different than you planned. Journaling can be a powerful tool for processing all of it — the grief, the adaptation, the unexpected gifts, the hard days, and the moments of real joy. This workshop is designed specifically for people who are living this experience and want a space to write honestly about it.

Pricing: Pay-what-you-can: $75 (sustaining) / $60 (standard) / $45 (reduced) / Free for MSU Denver email holders

Journaling for Caregivers A 2-hour workshop via Zoom

These workshops are not recorded, in order to maintain privacy and confidentiality for all participants. Slides will be shared with participants after the workshop.

Caregiving is one of the most demanding and least acknowledged forms of labor there is. It asks everything of you — your time, your emotional reserves, your patience, your grief. This workshop creates a rare space that is just for you, not for the person you’re caring for. We’ll use journaling to process the complicated feelings that come with caregiving: the love and the resentment, the exhaustion and the tenderness, the loss that begins before loss arrives.

Pricing: Pay-what-you-can: $75 (sustaining) / $60 (standard) / $45 (reduced) / Free for MSU Denver email holders

Journaling for Closure A 2-hour workshop via Zoom

These workshops are not recorded, in order to maintain privacy and confidentiality for all participants. Slides will be shared with participants after the workshop.

Sometimes the universe doesn’t give us the ending we needed. The conversation that never happened. The apology that never came. The relationship that ended without explanation. This workshop bridges therapeutic journaling with the work of finding closure on your own terms — using writing not to pretend things are resolved, but to find a way to carry them that doesn’t cost you so much. If you’ve taken the Getting Closure When the Universe Doesn’t Give It to You course, this workshop makes a powerful companion practice. The intro course is not required.

Pricing: Pay-what-you-can: $75 (sustaining) / $60 (standard) / $45 (reduced) / Free for MSU Denver email holders
